My work focuses on the surface.I use fabric as a starting
point. By creating new structures with it or developing new techniques to
change its appearance I give it my personal touch and feeling. Besides that I
try to give it more dept and a new dimension by moulding it into clean shapes
with a fresh and modern look. I am much more interested in that than decoration. Tactility, texture and no-frills modernity are the essence of my work.
I hate the superficial.I hate how we have changed in mass consuming
people being led by media, advertisement and trends without any questioning. We
have lost our own point of view. We have lost focus.
I think it is frightening to see how things around us
have all become of the same impact and importance.
I want people to think and take things more seriously. Evoke questioning
and change people’s perspective!
No flatness; search for substance! I don’t care about glamour and spotlights. I find more
meaning in the gestures of everyday life. I like the complexities within people
and I like things that are more difficult. I work like a researcher and a
problem solver. I don’t like things that are too easy to understand, too eye-catching
or obvious. I prefer a woman who exposes herself in a less in-your-face way. A certain reserve is beautiful.
In the end, what I like most in life is thinking. To me, that is
where the search for my own truth starts. I am always aware of little things
happening around me and I like to observe and be drawn into something just by
looking at it. Therefore my designs also arise from an atmosphere. I love individuality and a sense of emotion
in fashion. I think fashion has to function as an extension of the
personality. I want the wearer of my clothes to feel good in it and get joy out
of the clothes.
I design for a woman who lives in the present. Her vision is
open-minded and she thinks about today.
She is naturally cool and radiates a relaxed
elegance.
