Morphogenesis at Fashion Week Paris
01-03-2010
For those heading Paris on March the 3rd and 4th,the Fashion Institute Arnhem(ArtEZ) will be introducing its new creative engines under an exhibition-showroom space. The eight graduates are working together with Freudenthal/Verhagen, binding Galerie Joseph and their collections into a promising event.
Among the eight designers is Pauline van Dongen, who presents her womenswear collection ‘Morphogenesis’. The first reactions on her work are as following:
“Morphogenesis is concerned with the relationship between the body and the space around it – the void between the body and the garment – ’Is the body the content and the clothes the container, or is it the other way around?’ Van Dongen has translated this study into a range of garments that perform as organic sculptures, using materials that create strong silhouettes, such as synthetic crin (horsehair) and metallic yarns that give knitwear the ability to hold a shape.“
“Organic Science” like fashion transcends any stereotypical dogma on gravity itself!”
