Stereopsis Presentation at Magazijn

On January 22nd Pauline van Dongen presented her new collection ‘Stereopsis’ F/W 2011 at a crowded but cosy Magazijn, Amsterdam. The show opened with a projection of the Stereopsis Video; a visualisation of the concept of depth perception and the way Pauline explored the idea of light, shadow and illusion in her shape experiments. This was followed by models appearing from a doorway and stepping on elevated platforms to form a tableau vivant. While the next model came down a flight of stairs and took her place in the space others made their way to another platform, showing the garments from different angles and with a strong presence.
The collection featured laser-cut fabrics, three-dimensional dresses and handmade, perspex heels, the pieces are almost futuristic in look and feel. Some pieces feature desert-like undulations or architectural forms, each one a variation on the theme of depth.
